Seed to Sanctuary Garden Community

family gardening

Gardening has never been just about plants.

It’s about life, cultivating food, beauty, and joy. 😀

It is also about understanding the relationships between soil and seed, water and air — and just as importantly, the relationship between people who care deeply about growing something meaningful.

Seed to Sanctuary was created to honor that truth.

This is a private, off-social-media gardening community where gardeners come together to learn, grow, share, and support one another — and where your garden journey truly matters.

The Necessity of Community

Gardening has always been rooted in community.

Long before books, blogs, or search engines, knowledge was shared person to person

– through observation, conversation, and collective experience.

We learned by watching, asking, experimenting, and supporting one another. That way of learning still matters.

Gardeners Understand Interrelationships

As gardeners, we understand the interrelationships between soil, plants, water, air, and light. In the same way, we understand — often intuitively — that human connection is essential.

It’s through community that we gain perspective, uncover new approaches, and feel supported as we learn and evolve.

A Gardening Community Offers More than Information

A true gardening community offers more than information. It provides a space where questions are welcomed, curiosity is encouraged, and effort is recognized.

It’s a place where your garden wins are celebrated, and where setbacks become opportunities for shared learning instead of discouragement.

Gardening Communities Create Momentum

Community also creates momentum.

When you see others showing up for their gardens, asking questions, and taking steps forward, it reinforces your own commitment.

You’re reminded that what you’re doing matters — that tending a garden is meaningful work that nourishes not only the land, but the gardener as well.

The Seed to Sanctuary Community is the foundation.

It’s where we learn together, grow together, and support one another with generosity, respect, and shared purpose. This collective energy helps transform individual efforts into something more sustainable, more inspiring, and more deeply rewarding.

Gardens flourish in healthy ecosystems — and gardeners do too.

Why This Garden Community Exists

group of gardeners

Seed to Sanctuary was created because you asked for it.

Through polls and questionnaires, gardeners shared the same desire again and again:
A safe, private place to ask questions, get real support, and feel encouraged — away from noisy social platforms.

So this winter, I quietly built the foundation for exactly that.

Seed to Sanctuary is a space where gardeners can:

  • Feel supported at any stage
  • Ask questions without judgment
  • Stay focused and motivated
  • Grow alongside others who care just as deeply

You Can Grow Great a Great Garden – Gardener Stories

basket of tomatoes, raised bed, container garden and pic of Debby holding a huge kale plant

When I was a young adult, I didn’t know anyone else my age who gardened.

My parents had gardened, but that was not the same. I had to look to other places to learn more to expand my knowledge to grow a better garden.

Fast forward a bunch of years and I know loads of gardeners and have a wonderful little group of gardening friends.

The thing is, the reason why we do well is because we have each other.  We have seen learned what worked and what didn’t and tried each other’s ideas.  Sometimes to good effect, sometimes not, but the point is we did it together, shared our experiences and all grew along with our gardens.

People are busy these days, but we all have bits of time here and there and we can choose what we do with the time we have.

I am so inspired by other gardeners and this community space allows us all to grow together. Even if we live close, we don’t have to try and find a time to meet up.

Gathering and supporting is simpler online.

Here are a few wins from the people I have helped:

🍅Tracy – we figured out how to get more light for her to grow more tomatoes.

🪴John – create ways to grow more crops in containers with his kids.

🖋️Zina – how to design her five-acre property in a sustainable way.

😀Andrea – was able to rehab garden bed soil so her plants thrived.

💪🏼Tami – was inspired and got the tools to build a community garden for seniors.

Darby – understood how to companion plant and rotate crops in her raised beds.

🌱Jackie – we developed her seed starting schedule.

❄️Jean – learned how to garden in fall and winter to eat from her garden all year.

🥬Lynn – how to maximize her garden space to grow more with what she had.

Your Hostess, Coach & Instructor, Debby Ward

Hi! 👋My name is Debby Ward.

Serving people when they are ready to start and organic garden or improve the one they already have is what this community is about.

Perhaps they are tired of haphazard random garden info.

I am a real human with real world gardening experience – a professional organic garden coach, speaker, educator, presenter, designer and writer with over 50 years of gardening experience.

Pretty sure I have made all the mistakes there are – so you don’t have to.

My interest in growing plants started as soon as I could crawl around my family garden.

The first gardening lesson I remember came when I was five, learning the difference between green cherry tomatoes and peas  – I’ll tell you the story sometime – my Mom was amazing!
